Well, the hunt for the perfect Swoop HQ has turned into an epic journey. Dreams of having the space open for the Easter holidays have been put to death for our sins (not submitting our tax on time) but will hopefully be resurrected...even if only for the sake of metaphorical continuity ;-)
Basically, as we all know, tax sucks! But once this mahoooosive tax bill is out of the way, there should be nothing stopping us from finally opening our own space. In other news, I'm pumped to be booked into a course with Circus Training Australia in July. This means better quality programming and even more skills from Swoop in the future. Also, don't miss our new monthly spotlights on the Swoop Facebook page, starting next month with Antonin Artaud April. Every month will focus on a different physical theatre practitioner, style or company, organised alliteratively of course because I'm OCD; Artaud in April Meyerhold in May Jacques (Lecoq) in June Jerzy in July Anne (Bogart) in August Suzuki in September Oida (Yoshi) in October Noh in November Decroux in December Hopefully these studies will not only give you guys a stronger background in physical theatre, but also add to my knowledge as I search for hidden gems of info on the history of this incredible art form. Wishing everyone an eggcellent easter (sorry, no original jokes in the vault), Danielle xx

With the search for our new HQ in full swing, 2015 is looking exciting.
When I'm not hounding the real estate agents, I'm swooping the west of Sydney, one school at a time. We've had some great workshops at Holroyd High School and Clancy Catholic College, and in the next couple of weeks, St Andrew's Marayong, James Ruse Agricultural College and Muirfield High School will be swooping it up. Looks like western Sydney will be nailing physical theatre in their drama classes. Meanwhile in Eastern Sydney, Cranbrook School's senior production 'Wilde Tales' by Joshua Lobb is looking amazing. The cast have worked so hard on their physicalisation and with the set and costumes coming along nicely, the excitement is starting to build. This week Ive been working on body rolls in hooping. Next week it's isolations. Bring it on. Swoopalicious vibes to you all. xD With the upcoming opening of our warehouse training space, we are looking for an aerials instructor to join our team. Please contact Danielle on missymckinnon@gmail.com for more info.
